3 Ways to Overcome Pandemic Fatigue

We’re all feeling burned out by nearly 11 months of the pandemic, lockdowns, and social distancing. The strain can take a toll on us, so let’s shake things up a bit. Here are 3 ways to overcome pandemic fatigue.

  1. Have a virtual party for any reason or no reason. Gather your friends on whatever video conferencing platform works best for you (Google Meet, Zoom, or Facebook’s Messenger Rooms). There are a ton of games to play including JackBox games, Psych; Outwit your Friends, Codenames.game and Use Your Words and if none of those are your cup of tea, maybe a virtual drinking game?

  2. Get outdoors. A change of scenery gives the mind a break and boosts the feel good hormones like serotonin and dopamine. Outdoor exercise is a twofer. Plus the Vitamin D from sunshine is one of nature’s best antidepressants.

  3. I know talking on the phone is old school but if you haven’t done it for a while, try it. Call your college roommate or your best friend from middle school. Reconnect with people you’ve lost touch with. Connecting with other people produces hormones that protect our bodies from the damaging effects of stress.

Try one of these ideas or comment with something that has helped you stay mentally healthy this past year.
